Multitasking
Until recently, many Kenyans attended either school or had a full time job. This worked out well and multitasking was not as critical. This made some people poor and restricted from doing what they wanted to do-this lessened the chances of high stress level and heart diseases. Multitasking
Compared to western countries where the sun does not set. One person would be going to school during the day, and working at night. This lifestyle can only be temporary before it gets a stall on ones health.
Multitasking can be a good thing, but not as effective. In the past, I had bragged to my friends that I have a skill of multitasking. Some people praised me, while others wished they possessed that gift. But in actuality, multitasking is rarely effective.
I have constantly switched from one undertaking to another and this does not allow me to give the entire focus to any one task. As a result, the quality of the work suffers, and I end up spending more time finishing the projects than if I had tackled one at a time or separately.
I have juggled several activities at once for a long time. One example would be watching the news, checking emails, balancing my financial account, and drinking tea all at the same time. After having foster kids, I am realizing that time goes very fast from the time I wake up, drop them to school, pick them up, do some work, dinner and the day is gone.
There are times that I cannot put my finger and say exactly what I had accomplished for the day. I used to multitask while driving, but because of the California law that restricts talking while driving, unless the hands are free or texting, has made me improve on driving and I have not had a ticket in the last seven years. Multitasking is not effective.
